Technics SL-P500 con problemas

Estimados, recurro a su ayuda ya que estoy teniendo problemas con mi CD player

Hace aprox 3 años adquirí un Technics SL-P500. Ignoro cuánto tiempo de uso tenía, pero se veía suficientemente bueno, y el vendedor suficientemente serio y curtido en el mundo del hifi como para asumir que lo trataba con cariño

Desde hace un tiempo (4 meses?) MUCHOS discos se me están empezando a saltar, y de manera recurrente (no es solo en un instante, sino que en un mismo disco puede pasar 15 veces mientras lo reproduzco). obviamente no es problema de los discos (nada de rayas, ni polvo, ni similares). desde que lo compré, nunca lo he sacado de mi casa, no ha sufrido golpes, ni hay niños que hayan jugado con el.

nunca he abierto un cd-player. nunca le he hecho mantención alguna a ninguno que haya tenido. ¿qué me recomiendan hacer? ¿hay algo que pueda hacer yo mismo? limpieza o algo asi? soy ingeniero y tengo algo de manejo en electrónica, no tengo problema en meter mano y soy capaz de hacer arreglos chicos de hardware, pero como dije, nunca algo como esto, asi que preferiría tener alguna recomendación primero

pagué 20 lucas por él, por lo tanto llevarlo a un servicio técnico para que me cobren mucho más que lo que pagué, no me tinca como opción... garantía no hay, claramente

la verdad, el unico problema que estoy teniendo es que los discos se saltan. no he tenido nada de lo demás que estás mencionando

creo que voy a partir por ver si hay algo mecánico, como recomiendas, que parece ser lo que mas simple de resolver. nunca en mi vida he calibrado un laser asi que tendria que ponerme a leer un poco

alguna recomendación para limpiar el lente? tengo equipo fotográfico, así que tengo liquido limpiador y pañitos para limpiar lentes, se puede usar lo mismo? sorry la ignorancia pero como dije, nunca he intervenido un cd player

La lente de un láser de cd debe tener unos 4-5 mm de diámetro, si la limpias debe ser con cuidado y muy suave con un cotonito. Puedes usar líquido, pero evitando chorrear. Puede ser alcohol, pero que no gotee sobre los plásticos.

Parte por limpiar el lente. También puedes intentar ajustar los servos pero si no tienes experiencia no lo recomiendo como primera opción ya que es muy fácil que pierda lectura y cuesta bastante recuperarla por los grados de libertad que tienes.

Hay información en la red sobre cómo regular el tracking de CD player con 4 o 6 potenciómetros.

Tocar el control de potencia del laser no lo recomiendo, pues si ajustas sin instrumentos puedes acortar mucho su vida útil.

Adjusting the CD mechanism adjustment pots

Oooouuugh this is a tough subject.
If I advice you to turn these pots, I will end up being forced to answer 10 000 emails begging for help.
My advice is NOT TO turn the famous pots which adjust the laser, focus, tracking etc. But you will do it anyway, I can't help it.
All I can say, that after fixing 100 player lasers - I know how to do it and THAT'S WHY I know I should beg you not to try it at home.

However, if you have a dead player, and you read all the above article, and you think you have nothing to loose - try turning the pots.
FIRST MARK THEM WITH MARKER PEN TO BE ABLE TO RETURN PRECISELY TO THE STARTING POSITION. Your wife's nail lacquer is a good alternative but leave it to dry.

After marking, read the descriptors on the PCB silk-screen:
Philips uses 2 pots - one for focus one for tracking.
Without manual you can identify them because when you observe the laser lens while turning the focus pot - the lens will also move up and down.
The Philips pots are adjustable with hex allen key
Philips machines like CDM are usually easier to adjust than Sony breed - with their 4, 5 or even 6 pots. But in Philips machines these pots are usually hidden below the transport. That's too bad. Sony allows us to turn easily while playing.

Sony Machines have descriptors marking the pots: FG (focus gain)  FB (focus bias or balance) TG - tracking gain and TB - Tracking balance.
There is also absolute power adjustment and one more which I cant remember.
If you don't mark the starting positions with pen - finding the G spot again will be as possible as winning the lotto. Don't even try it.

Only turn the pot responsible for your problem: focus for focus, tracking for tracking etc.

In 90 % of cases the pots are OK in the center position. If the pot must go (or it is already) in extreme position - it is an indicator of big trouble.
