Herb Alpert is clearly the most commercially successful trumpeter of all time by far. He also has a unique sound and style. He is (thankfully) a great musician rather than a great technician. We trumpeters can learn much from that!

Has the best pure Mexican sound. Cleanest triple tounging I've ever heard. Heard him play carnival of Venice and end on not the super high F but the F above that. That alone should put him in the greats.

son fusion.. entregan el alma.

Se le conoce por el jazz bueno que toca ,pero el empezo con la orquesta Irakere ....tocaban de todo un poco ,como tambien todos en la orquesta eran maestros de musica lo que tocaban les salia bien :),hay varios de esa orquesta famosos a nivel internacional ej Paquito de Rivera pero este esta en la categoria de saksofon y clarinet.

Me hubiese gustado ver a otro en 1° lugar, pero Armstrong tiene grandes méritos. Este reconocimiento es similar a decir que Chaplin es el actor más cómico de todos los tiempos.

5.Arturo Sandoval

Soberbio!!! Recuerdo la primera vez que lo escuche en Radio Clasica allá por el 1997-8, hace lo que quiere con la trompeta. Participo en la BSO de Vampiros en la Habana, dotando al personaje principal de su virtuosismo.

7.Miles Davis

GENIO!!!

10.Dizzy Gillespie

Sin lugar a dudas tenía que estar dentro de los 10.

N°10 en el ranking de trompetistas, N°1 en el de cachetes de KIKO

15.chuck mangione

Este es mi favorito. Quizá no es el mejor ejecutor, pero si un compositor de mucho sentimiento. Famosos temas como Feel So Good, Give It All You Got, Children Of Sanchez.

Bastante comercial eso si...

chuck mangione ... my ass :P es como decir que el mejor album de rock es de earth wind and fire

Chuck Magione como trompetista no merece ni limpiarle los zapatos a Miles. Recuero el título de un video en Youtube que decía “CHUCK MANGIONE- Feel so good, and sound so bad” y la verdad es el que tipo no es un virtuoso, pero su música es comercial y pega. Al final el ranking tiene que ver más con popularidad en IMHO.
